Instructional Design & Objectives -Design a Red Dot Sight (RDS) qualification course of fire that reflects modern visual acquisition principles, while meeting or exceeding TCOLE range safety standards. -Evaluate student performance on RDS fundamentals using field-based observation tools and provide corrective feedback based on measurable performance indicators. Construct a full lesson plan for in-agency RDS integration that includes instructional goals, risk mitigation strategies, and testing procedures—suitable for TCOLE audit or review. -Justify RDS deployment in duty environments by citing peer-reviewed studies, case law, and performance metrics from law enforcement agencies with established RDS programs. 🎯 Firearms Skill Development Objectives Demonstrate advanced manipulation techniques with RDS-equipped handguns under varying lighting, stress, and positional conditions (e.g., barricade, kneeling, single-hand). -Diagnose shooter error related to dot tracking, occlusion, parallax shift, and presentation lag through structured live-fire drills and slow-motion video analysis. -Instruct others on dot acquisition, focal plane transitions, and offset aiming considerations for precision shots at varying distances. -Integrate RDS performance drills with decision-making exercises (e.g., shoot/no-shoot) to simulate real-world threat engagement timelines. 🛡️ Policy, Safety, and Legal Objectives Develop departmental RDS policies that address training requirements, minimum proficiency standards, and equipment guidelines consistent with TCOLE mandates. Assess safety violations and training risks unique to RDS instruction and formulate control measures to ensure safe implementation across range environments. Analyze legal implications of RDS-related engagements by reviewing case law and articulating justification within Use of Force documentation. 🔁 Instructor Development Objectives Facilitate peer-to-peer coaching scenarios to elevate instructional delivery and ensure standardization of RDS Times: Day 1 8-5 Day 2 2 -10 Day 3 8-5 Required Equipment: Equipped RDS Handgun, weapon holster (optic), 3 magazines, ammunition (600 rounds), eye & ear protection.
