Service Description

This 4-day Valor Ballistic Shield Train-the-Trainer Course is to prepare law enforcement instructors with the knowledge, skills, and instructional capability needed to safely and effectively teach ballistic shield operations to officers within their agencies. This course develops advanced shield handling proficiency, enhance tactical decision-making, and ensures instructors can design, deliver, and evaluate high-quality shield-based training in accordance with modern LE standards, safety protocols, and best practices. Course Overview Topics • Shield Mandated Training Protocols Standards, policy requirements, safety protocols, and national best practices governing ballistic shield operations. • Shield Mechanics & Movement Grip, stance, handling, transitions, mobility, angles, and officer positioning with and without weapon deployment. • Room Entry / Clearing Tactics (Shield-Based) Entry options, threshold evaluations, single-officer and team shield entries, and clearing procedures. • High-Risk Warrant Service Shield role in warrant execution, team roles, priority of life, approach and breach considerations. • High-Risk Vehicle Stops Shield placement, vehicle approach tactics, extraction considerations, and officer safety. • Low-Light Deployment Light discipline, weapon-light integration, shield-light use, and nighttime operations. • Instructor Development How to teach shield skills, evaluate performance, correct deficiencies, build lesson plans, and run safe training evolutions. • Force-on-Force Training Shield application under stress using simulated munitions, scenario safety protocols, and realistic training models. • Active Shooter Integration & Policy Development Use of shields during rapid deployment, school-based operations, rescue team formation, and agency policy updates. Trainers: Valor Cadre Instructors Prerequisite: Active Police | Fire | EMS. Patrol Supervisors | SRO's | SWAT-SRT. Officers are required to pass a ballistic shield shooting course for certification. Course Schedule; Day One 8-5 Day Two 8-5 Day Three 2-10 Day Four 8-5 Equipment: Handgun and/or Rifle Rated Ballistic Shield (preferred mounted lights) | Weapon Systems | Duty Gear | 400 Rounds Handgun | 100 Rounds Rifle | Ballistic Gear/ Helmet | Eye Ear Protection | 100 NLTA rounds handgun | 100 NLTA rifle. Blue or Red Training Gun. Appropriate weather gear. Eye and Ear Protection. Limited NLTA kits will be available on site.This is a very physical course!!
